6×9 Book Cover Template Guide
Six by nine inches is a common trim for novels and nonfiction, but 6×9 describes only the finished page. A print-cover template must also include the back, calculated spine, bleed, and format-specific production zones.

Calculate the complete canvas
For a paperback, begin with two 6-inch panels, add the calculated spine, then add the required outer bleed. With a common 0.125-inch allowance, height becomes 9.25 inches and width becomes 12.25 inches plus spine.
Convert inches to pixels carefully
At 300 PPI, 6 inches equals 1800 pixels and 9 inches equals 2700 pixels. Convert the complete bleed-inclusive canvas—not only the front panel—when creating raster artwork.
Build from the final specification
Paper, page count, binding, and hardcover construction can change the template. Download or generate the final template only after the interior pagination is stable.
